Arvind Kejriwal has put to rest the rumors of an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. He confirmed that AAP will contest the 2025 elections independently, without any alliance with Congress.

Earlier, news agency ANI had reported, citing sources, that talks between AAP and Congress regarding an alliance were in the final stages. The proposed alliance was reportedly considering other members from the India Alliance as well. According to the report, Congress would contest 15 seats, while other India Alliance members might receive one or two seats. AAP would field candidates for the remaining seats.

Kejriwal quickly reacted to the ANI report on social media, denying the claim. He declared, “The Aam Aadmi Party will run independently in the Delhi elections. An alliance with Congress will not exist.

So far, AAP has released two lists of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. The first list announced candidates for 11 seats, and the second list declared candidates for 20 seats earlier this week.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for 2025, likely in February, with the Election Commission expected to announce the dates in January. As of now, there is no alliance between the Congress and AAP in Delhi, and the BJP is also gearing up for the elections. In the 2020 elections, AAP secured a landslide victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP managed just 8 seats, and Congress failed to win any.
