Ajit Pawar kicks off a statewide tour in preparation for the Maharashtra assembly elections
Ajit Pawar, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), set out on his first statewide tour on Wednesday, calling it the “Jan Samman Yatra,” from Dindori, Nashik. The party’s election campaign will begin with the first leg of the voyage, which will take place over a month and cover 39 assembly constituencies.
Pawar plans to connect with various societal groups, emphasizing state budget schemes like the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.’ Party leaders claim the tour will enhance awareness and clarify any ‘confusion’ spread by opposition parties.
In a social media post, Pawar said, “Jan Sanman Yatra begins. A new chapter of public service, respect, and empowerment begins.”
Wearing a white kurta pajama and an onion-pink half-jacket, the NCP president opened the tour with a public meeting that was targeted at women. He explained the advantages of the different programs the Mahayuti government had implemented. His schedule consists of meetings with health professionals, conversations with women in Devlali, a visit to Kalaram Temple, and exchanges with grape farmers.
With this visit, Ajit Pawar hopes to shed his image as a skilled administrator and instead be seen as a leader of the people. This vision is embodied in the campaign slogan “Dadacha Wada, Laabh Aani Bal” (power and benefit are Ajit Pawar’s pledges).
A specially designed pink bus, symbolizing femininity, will carry Pawar and senior party officials throughout the tour. Starting in North Maharashtra, the route will cover Western Maharashtra, Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Vidarbha, and end in Marathwada.
The tour’s strategic value lies in its ability to alter public perception and boost support before the pivotal state assembly elections. By engaging directly with voters and highlighting government programs, Pawar aims to fortify his party’s standing in Maharashtra’s competitive political arena.
