Congress has termed the FIR against Rahul Gandhi as a diversionary move in reaction to his protest against Amit Shah
Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal has accused the FIR filed against Rahul Gandhi of being a tactic to divert attention from his strong opposition to Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments about B.R. Ambedkar.
In a post on X, Venugopal remarked, “The FIR against Rahul Gandhi is a deliberate attempt to distract from his resolute protest against the Home Minister. Charging him for defending Babasaheb’s legacy is a mark of pride. Rahul Gandhi is already confronted with 26 FIRs as a result of the BJP’s political agenda, and this latest FIR will not hinder him or the Congress from continuing their opposition to the casteist RSS-BJP regime.
He also raised concerns about the Delhi Police‘s failure to take action on the FIRs filed by Congress women MPs, who have accused BJP leaders of assault.
On December 19, 2024, the Delhi Police registered an FIR against Rahul Gandhi amid allegations of violence in Parliament, following cross-complaints from both BJP and Congress. The incident led to clashes between the two parties, with members from the Opposition and the BJP-led NDA staging parallel protests.
Congress leader Manickam Tagore also shared his thoughts on X, asserting, “Defending Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy is a matter of pride, not a crime. Despite facing 26 politically motivated FIRs, Rahul ji and Congress will continue to challenge the casteist RSS-BJP regime.”
