On Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met with Citibank CEO Jane Fraser to discuss the banking sector, considering the decade-long reforms and the future direction for India.

“The two discussed the application of #AI in critical sectors such as #agriculture and #UrbanDevelopment, as well as India’s flourishing #pharmaceutical industry and its status as a global hub,” the finance ministry stated in a post on X.

Fraser commended the Finance Minister for India’s progress in digital payments.

She highlighted the vital reforms India has undertaken to create an ecosystem for MSMEs, stressing the importance of including MSMEs in supply chains.

During their conversation, Fraser also remarked that the government’s initiatives to enhance the ease of doing business will streamline business operations.

Furthermore, the finance minister met with Laurence Douglas Fink, CEO of BlackRock, a global investment and financial services firm.

They explored opportunities for global investors through NIIF and IFSC GiftCity, as well as financing options for GreenTech and battery storage projects.

Fink noted that BlackRock is partnering with private entities in India, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.
