On Thursday, Google Search said that, more than two months after the US launch of the feature, AI Overviews would be made available in six more countries, including India.

The function, which debuted in the US in May of this year, provides users with a search bar preview of a topic or query based on a range of sources, including web sources.

Google Search in the UK, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil will get the feature.

Additionally, Google noted that local language support will be available for each country’s experience.

“In India, we’re adding AI Overviews in English and Hindi, along with popular features from our Search Labs experiment. You can now easily switch between English and Hindi results using the language toggle button and listen to responses with the ‘Listen’ button,” the company said in a blog post.

Google also unveiled a new desktop AI Overviews right-hand link display, which is also available on mobile devices by pressing the site icons in the top right corner of the screen.

“These updates are being rolled out globally today for AI Overviews in all available countries, as well as for Search Labs users in over 120 countries and territories,” the company announced.

Google plans to gradually push out this expansion for the AI Overviews function over the next few weeks.

According to Google, during testing, it was discovered that Indian consumers were paying more attention to AI overviews than users in other nations.

The introduction of AI overviews has led to users exploring a wider range of websites for assistance with more complex queries. Additionally, when users click on search results featuring AI overviews, the quality of these clicks improves for websites, meaning visitors are more likely to spend more time on the sites they visit,” the company stated.

Google added that to make AI overviews easier to access, it was now evaluating the inclusion of links to pertinent websites straight within the text.

This experiment has shown good early results: adding links to related web pages in AI Overviews is increasing traffic to publisher sites. We will continue to test different ways of showing information that helps users the most while making sure these methods drive traffic to relevant websites,” Google said in a blog.
