Harbhajan Singh Takes a Dig at MS Dhoni: “We Haven’t Spoken in Years… He Didn’t Pick Up My Call
Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has revealed that he and MS Dhoni no longer communicate. While Harbhajan clarified that he harbors no ill feelings toward Dhoni, he admitted that they are no longer friends. Both cricketers were crucial to India’s victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, with Dhoni captaining the side and Harbhajan playing vital roles in both tournaments.
In an interview with News 18, Harbhajan shared that during their time together at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2018 to 2020, their conversations were limited to on-field interactions. He added that there was no personal communication outside the stadium.
“I don’t talk to Dhoni. We spoke when I was at CSK, but beyond that, we haven’t. It’s been more than 10 years. I don’t have a reason to call him, maybe he will,” Harbhajan said. He explained that he only calls those who respond to his calls, adding, “I don’t have time otherwise. I keep in touch with people who are my friends. A relationship needs effort from both sides.”
Harbhajan went on to say, “If he had something to discuss with me, he would have by now. I don’t chase anyone for conversation. If I call you a couple of times and don’t get a response, I will not keep trying. I only connect with those who reciprocate.”
The two last played together for India in an ODI against South Africa in 2015, after which both Harbhajan and Yuvraj Singh were dropped from the team. Harbhajan, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2021, has not played internationally since the 2015 World Cup.
