A senior inspector with the Mumbai Police has confirmed that contrary to widespread rumors, Ratan Tata’s pet dog, Goa, is alive and well. This clarification comes in response to a viral WhatsApp message claiming that Goa passed away three days after the industrialist’s death on October 9.

Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, died late on October 9 at the age of 86 after a brief hospitalization. Confusion regarding the fate of Tata’s dog has spread online, with false assertions that Goa died shortly after Tata.

Goa lives permanently at the Tata Group’s office in Bombay House and was reportedly Ratan Tata’s favorite among the many stray dogs that inhabit the office. Notably, Goa attended Ratan Tata’s funeral to pay his respects and took part in the Parsi ritual of Sagdid, where a dog is brought to see the deceased.

Senior Police Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar has confirmed that Goa is very much alive. Known for his affection for animals, Kudalkar stated that he confirmed this information with Ratan Tata’s assistant, Shantanu Naidu, who assured him that Goa is doing well.

“I verified this with Shantanu Naidu, a close friend of Tata Ji, and he confirmed that Goa is doing fine,” the Mumbai police officer shared in an Instagram post.

Sudhir Kudalkar, renowned for his commitment to animal welfare, is stationed at the MHB Police Station in Borivali. He consistently feeds and cares for stray animals, especially dogs and cats, in the vicinity of his station. Kudalkar’s compassion for animals has garnered recognition from organizations such as PETA.

The senior police inspector urged individuals to refrain from believing WhatsApp forwards without first verifying the information.
