On January 8–9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, which will be a significant step forward for infrastructural development, industrial expansion, and sustainable development. PM Modi will lay the groundwork and inaugurate several projects totaling more than ₹2 lakh crore during his visit.
The Prime Minister of Andhra Pradesh will inaugurate the NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Hub Project at Pudimadaka, close to Visakhapatnam, on January 8. This cutting-edge facility, which would cost about ₹1,85,000 crore, will be the first of its type under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
One of the most integrated green hydrogen manufacturing plants in India, the project has 20 GW of renewable energy capacity. With a primary focus on exports, it will generate 1,500 TPD of Green Hydrogen and 7,500 TPD of derivatives, including Green Methanol, Green Urea, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Additionally, by 2030, India hopes to have 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity, and this project will help make that happen.
The prime minister will begin several road and railway projects in Andhra Pradesh that would cost more than ₹19,500 crore. These include the South Coast Railway Headquarters’ foundation stone in Visakhapatnam as well as other initiatives meant to ease traffic, boost connectivity, and promote socio-economic growth in the area.
In the Anakapalli district, PM Modi will lay the groundwork for the Bulk Drug Park in Nakkapalli to promote economic growth and healthcare access. With its advantageous location close to the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada Petrochemical Investment Region and the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC), this project is anticipated to create thousands of employment.
The Prime Minister will also establish the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) in the Tirupati district as part of the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. KRIS City is envisioned as a greenfield industrial smart city that will promote livelihoods and regional development by bringing in ₹10,500 crore in manufacturing investments and creating about one lakh employment.
In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Prime Minister Modi will open the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention on January 9. The Indian government interacts and communicates with the Indian diaspora through this premier event. The event, which is being organized in partnership with the Odisha government and has as its subject “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat,” will be attended by diaspora members from more than 50 nations.
A unique tourist train for members of the Indian diaspora, the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, will be launched remotely by Prime Minister Modi as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations. The train will go to important tourist and religious locations in India for three weeks under the “Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana,” starting from Delhi’s Nizamuddin Railway Station.
