Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held a meeting with the US Secretary of Commerce on the sidelines of the India-US CEO Forum
On Thursday, during the India-US CEO Forum, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
Goyal mentioned that they explored opportunities for collaboration in technology and research and development across several sectors.
In a post on X, Goyal noted, “Had a meaningful discussion with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo during a lunch meeting at the India-US CEO Forum. Our discussions centered on potential tech and R&D partnerships in critical sectors such as defense, space, semiconductors, telecom, AI, and clean energy. We also explored possibilities for US investments in 20 upcoming industrial cities in India to support mutual growth.”
Goyal commenced his four-day visit to the United States on September 30, starting with discussions with current and prospective US investors to highlight cooperation opportunities across various sectors, as stated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
In an attempt to increase American investments in India, Piyush Goyal met one-on-one in New York with prominent investors, including Warburg Pincus president Timothy F. Geithner, Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, and KKR co-founder and co-executive chairman Henry R. Kravis.
On Day 1, Goyal led a roundtable discussion with young CEOs and entrepreneurs of Indian origin in New York, organized by the Consulate General of India. This interactive session provided the young entrepreneurs with a platform to share their perspectives on India’s business environment and offer recommendations for reforms.
In his address, Goyal highlighted the transformative reforms implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which have driven India’s remarkable growth over the past decade. He urged US businesses to take advantage of the “Make in India” campaign and leverage India’s enormous potential, especially in the areas of high-tech manufacturing and high-quality production.
The minister honored Mahatma Gandhi on his birthday while he was in Washington.
He stated in a post on X, “Honoring the one who pursued a less traveled route! The world is still filled with optimism because of Mahatma Gandhi ji’s principles.
